I was fishing Rainy River from the town docks on the weekend. I landed one mid sized sturgeon on Saturday using a pickerel rig and shiners. The river is running pretty rough right now with white tides on a daily basis making it hard to fish.
I have had alot of success catching monster sturgeon by the mouth of Rainy River near Oak Grove Camp leading into Lake of the Woods.

jb - thanks for the response - I'm assuming you are saying to let the water lower a bit - do you shore fish or boat fish at the mouth near Oak Grove? - can you drop me an email telling me a few spots to try when I go - I'll be coming from Regina so it is obviously a bit of a hike and I woud be great to have some specific info - will have my wife and just-turned 6 year-old in tow too I want to ensure he sees some "dinosaur fish" landed - my email is zawislak@sasktel.net - Larry
