Greetings,
Wondering what the crossing is like this year. I think last year Canada did not what US potatoes and the US did not want Canadian beef. Any problems. Will be crossing at Ft. Francis.
Thanks for your reply,
Eagle

No fresh 'taters or onions. From what I hear, they're not as stringent on this as last year as far as checking, but it's still a no-no. Problem is, if they catch you with them, they send you back to the States to get rid of them. Can chew up a lot of time. Better off not taking the chance and buying the produce across the border.

I've been seeing the long line ups on the canadian side lately. Heard that there is a radiation detector being installed. Heard that there could be some lineups depending on what time you are crossing. If its not to far out of the way Rainy River might be an idea, plus no bridge tolls. But on the down side, shopping is lacking in Rainy. Good luck.

We are takin live bait across the border tommorow night and they informed us that we cant even take the dirt that the worms are in. We had to take the worms out of the dirt. TAKE THE DIRT OFF THE WORMS, then place them in worm bedding. Ridiculous i think, but i guess thats why i dont run the country.

I went fishing in Rainy River on the weekend. I crossed the Rainy River, Ontario - Baudette, Minnesota border a total of 4 times. I was not pulling a boat and was by myself. The American side searched my car and ran my ID everytime I crossed. Three out of the four times I was just going to get gas. I had no issues coming back through the Canadian border. The Baudette, MN customs appear to be running things pretty tight/catious right now. They seem to be searching every vehicle that is not local. Be aware! So don't be surprised if your travel plans are delayed a bit when going through the Baudette customs......... It might just be that the USA border is stricter letting Canadian citizens and the same thing goes with the Canadian customs letting American citizens pass. I alsowent through the Sprague, MB - Waroad, MN border each way once. I had no problems crossing through the American or Canadian side. Good Luck!

If you ever fish in the US and hate to buy a fishing license for every state you fish in, check out this website @ www.passport-america.com/main/petition.asp. We got it to congress once but it got dropped because of the end of the session in congress. Help us get it going again.
